Blue Elephant, Phuket is located at the site of the Phra Pitak Chinpracha Mansion, a historic 105 year old landmark. Built in an elegant Sino-Portuguese style, the architecture follows the principles of feng shui, creating a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere inside the restaurant, with scenic surroundings outside.
After a great welcome from the team at The BLUE BAR, PRAIR took me to the market to make me discovering the Thai products: vegetables, fruits, spices, curry paste, chicken and all necessary to prepar the delicious meals.
So back to BLUE ELEPHANT Thai cooking class, PRAIR in a perfect English (she staid one year in Minnesota, US with some fun experience as the snow...) introduce us to the Thaï cooking secret.
The menu of the day was (change every day):
- Chicken Massaman Curry (Kaeng Massaman Kai)
- Spicy Sea Bass Soup with Fresh Turmeric (Tom Kamin Plaa Kra Pong)
- Triangular Spring Roll with spicy chicken Filling and sweet and sour Cucumber sauce (Sam Liem Thong Kham & Naam A-Jard)
In a perfect timing and organisation, we were able to make the four dishes, by first the explanation,the demonstration and then the practical.
- Stir_fried Beef with Pea Eggplant (Phad Phed Nua Makeua Puong)
At the end, you are invited with all students, to taste our Thaï cooking at the amazing Bleu Elephant restaurant. And I have to say (with humility) that I suprise myself with the result. Not that difficult with such a good Chef and teacher and the perfect products and ingredients.
At the end, I received my diploma.
